A new home in North Willoughby for a family of six. They wanted a functional house connected to a new pool, with a bedroom and desk for each of their four children, shared bathrooms, a parents’ retreat with walk-in robe and ensuite, a living area that can become a guest space, an office, a workshop, a mudroom, and a large kitchen that opens to the garden and the living spaces.

The challenge was fitting all of that into a small footprint. With careful planning, and by keeping to the original building line, every space found its place.

The house is clad in thermally modified ABODO timber, rendered brick and a slate roof. Low-carbon materials and a new solar PV system complete its sustainable features.

The different stages of the project went through two CDCs and one DA. What I’m proudest of is how well the space is used.
